TCS training courses are designed based on regulations and industry best practices aligned with relevant international standards and/or approved by appropriate industry accrediting bodies, as necessary.

The aim of TCS training courses is to ensure that all individuals have reached to a recognized level of competence to enable them to work on-site more safely with reduced risk to themselves and others.

According to regulations there is a need for organisations to ensure all employees are competent, especially in areas where high risk activities take place.

“Electrical Engineering” training courses are carefully designed to meet the requirements of the modern industries including, but not limited to oil & gas, construction, chemical, shipbuilding etc. Training courses covered under “Electrical Engineering” category provide different level of skills and competences to employees involved with wide range of electrical engineering activities. Electrical Engineering training courses include Industrial Electrician, Electrical Technician, COMPEX, etc as well as several Skills Proficiency Certificate Programs by City & Guilds.

The courses are interactive and can be delivered in the language of your choice. Practical exercises and course materials are provided as per specific training requirements. The content can be localized to reflect the country or region where the workforce will operate.

To ensure that individuals have reached the required level of competency, they MUST successfully complete a training course and assessment. Successful candidates will then receive the certificate transferable worldwide. Individuals must renew their certificates as based on the expiry date shown on the certificate to ensure their knowledge is up to date.

The detailed course content is as follows:

COURSE CONTENT:

  • General principles: flammable limits UEL/LEL, flashpoint, ignition temperature, relative density, area classification to BS EN60079
  • 10-1, gas grouping, temperature classification & ingress protection
  • Standards, Certification, and marking, EU Directives ATEX 95 & ATEX 137, Equipment Categories and EPL's
  • Flameproof Ex 'd' protection
  • Increased safety Ex 'e' protection
  • Type Ex 'n', 'nR', 'nA', 'nC' & 'nL' protection
  • Pressurisation Ex 'px', 'py' & 'pz' protection
  • Intrinsic safety Ex 'ia', 'ib' & 'ic' protection
  • Other methods of protection, Ex 'o', Ex 'q',Ex 'ma', 'mb' & 'mc'
  • Combined (hybrid) methods of protection
  • Selection, Erection & installation of equipment to BS EN60079-14 including wiring systems: cables, cable glands, and cable gland accessories, electrical testing, isolation procedures
  • Inspection and maintenance of equipment to BS EN 60079-17
  • Induction to competence validation testing
  • Permit to work system and safe isolation

COMPETENCY ASSESSMENT of four units:

  • EX01 Preparation and installation of Ex 'd', 'e,' 'n' types of equipment
  • EX02 Inspection and maintenance of Ex 'd', 'e', 'n' types of equipment
  • EX03 Preparation and installation of Ex 'i' systems
  • EX04 Inspection and maintenance of Ex 'i' systems
  • Online multiple-choice Exam.

  • VALIDITY:

    CompEx National Certificate of Core Competence – valid for 5 years from date awarded. Refresher course to be undertaken prior to 5-year expiry date otherwise 6-day CompEx Course to be retaken.

  • PARTICIPANT PREREQUISITE:

    Evidence of relevant vocational qualifications, either electrical or instrumentation and work experiences on starting the course.
